Hi there!

Welcome to Rugged Up! My name is Jayne Lemon and I’m a life-long Cape Codder who has been making handmade rag rugs for over 10 years.

My obsession with upcycling fabrics into rugs and eventually, into baskets, too, started when I was searching for a way to use my kids’ (and husband’s) old clothing to create something we could use around the house…when I stumbled across the idea of rag rugs I decided to teach myself how to make one and was immediately hooked! I started making them for family, then friends, and as they caught on, I decided to turn my passion for upcycling into a business. I had a a brick & mortar shop in Hyannis, MA, from 2018-2024, and am currently selling my creations online and in-person at craft fairs.

My love of thrifting and upcycling has allowed this little business to grow; I am never without TONS of scrap fabric because I have become a go-to textile recycling point and am always on the hunt for interesting fabric. With each new piece of fabric that I acquire, I am inspired to try something new–a new color palette, pattern, or theme. Sometimes I even surprise myself!

As a mom of 4 kids (and now an empty-nester), one of my favorite parts of my job is creating sentimental pieces, custom pieces, and memorial pieces that commemorate a specific time in life or a loved one who is no longer with us. It feels so wonderful to make something beautiful and meaningful out of items that used to sit in boxes or hang in a closet, unused.

I am so thankful that I’ve been able to turn my love of recycling into this business and would love to help you bring your rag rug dreams to life!

Thanks for visiting my shop.
